Getting Ready for What’s Next
God has revealed fascinating things to me recently. This winter, He began to prepare us for the coming season. Now, looking back, we understand better why He placed us in certain situations. This weekend marked a crucial milestone and was a wake-up call in my life.
I have learned, and am still learning, to depend on God, not to rely solely on what I believe I know. As Proverbs 3:5 says,
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”
God led us to the Hawkesbury area, and specifically to a traditional church there. We first submitted to God, then to the authorities in place. It was difficult, but God had prepared us through various trials and circumstances. We witnessed miracles and wonders, and saw many people being touched. The weekend of May 11, 2024, will remain etched in my memory, and I am eager to share why.
A Ripple Effect of Faith
I deeply desire to resemble my Lord, to understand what motivated Him to finish His course, to obey His Father. I long to understand His sufferings, His joys, and to see the world through His eyes. I believe the main obstacle is my own nature, this flesh that desires to taste the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, to follow my own will. This weekend, I tasted the fruit of our labor in Jesus Christ. We saw the body of Christ united, rejoicing over the new birth of a young man. I saw people transformed, people who loved Jesus but had never seen such a manifestation of the Kingdom of God.
A young man with a troubled past was baptized and born again. He received the baptism of the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues, which had a domino effect: his father and his friend also received the gift of tongues. This stirred the spirits of the people in this church and inspired them to step out of their comfort zones and take steps of faith. This is just a small glimpse of what God did during this weekend, and I almost missed it all.
Seeing Beyond the Dots
Serving God can be challenging, but it is the most rewarding thing one can do, the only thing that gives true meaning to life. Sometimes, we focus too much on the obstacles, similar to black dots on a white page. Sometimes there are few, sometimes more. There are times when all one sees are the black dots, but God reminded me this weekend that He is the creator of the white page, that I must trust Him, and that sometimes, I myself am a black dot. He also showed me that with all these black dots, a work is being formed. As Matthew 6:33 says,
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
It turned out that I was on the verge of missing the gift God had for me, simply because I was distracted by the black dots.
Thank you, Father.
